In 2005, in order to collect and archive related resources and to promote the understanding and studying of Taiwan indigenous peoples, the Council of Indigenous Peoples of Taiwan commissioned National Taiwan University Library to set up Taiwan Indigenous Resource Center (TIPRC).

TIPRC's ongoing mission is to organize information related to Taiwan indigenous peoples and to help preserve their cultures. Through the proper management of the resources, TIPRC aims to reinforce public awareness of indigenous history, culture, and contemporary issues, and to provide a framework from indigenous peoples' own experiences.

Objectives

Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Resource Center (TIPRC) was established to collect information related to Taiwan indigenous peoples and to organize these data for preservation and archiving purposes. TIPRC also aims to become a key resource provider, offering guidance and assistance to those who are interested in indigenous issues.

1. Collection of Information and Resources

TIPRC preserves books, periodicals, multimedia materials and other physical data, and applies library scientific methods to organize these resources.

2. Integration of Online Resources

TIPRC aims to provide a mechanism for systematic integration and management of digital resources related to indigenous peoples, and to become a main channel for distributing thematic indigenous resources.
