The National Film and Sound Archive is the national audiovisual archive, playing a key role in documenting and interpreting the Australian experience and actively contributing to the development of Australia’s audiovisual industry. They collect, store, preserve and make available screen and sound material relevant to Australia’s culture.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been the subject of recordings since the earliest days of moving image. In 1898, the British anthropologist Alfred Cort Haddon filmed Torres Strait Islanders and mainland Aborigines in the world’s first film of an anthropological field trip.

The Indigenous collection spans a century’s worth of audiovisual technology, from nitrate film and wax cylinders to digital formats.

IWGIA is an international human rights organization staffed by specialists and advisers on indigenous affairs. IWGIA supports indigenous peoples’ struggle for human rights, self-determination, right to territory, control of land and resources, cultural integrity, and the right to development. IWGIA was founded in 1968 by anthropologists alarmed about the ongoing genocide on indigenous peoples taking place in the Amazon. The aim was to establish a network of concerned researchers and human right activists to document the situation of indigenous peoples and advocate for an improvement of their rights. Today indigenous peoples from all over the world are involved in IWGIA’s global network.

The Centre for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition and Environment (CINE) is an independent, multi-disciplinary research and education resource for Indigenous Peoples, created by Canada’s Aboriginal leaders. CINE is located on McGill University’s Macdonald Campus, Quebec. CINE was created in response to a need expressed by Aboriginal Peoples for participatory research and education to address their concerns about the integrity of their traditional food systems. Deterioration in the environment has adverse impacts on the health and lifestyles of Indigenous Peoples, in particular nutrition as affected by food and food traditions.  In concern with Indigenous Peoples, CINE will undertake community-based research and education related to traditional food systems. The empirical knowledge of the environment inherent in Indigenous societies will be incorporated into all its efforts.

Standing on the Sacred Ground網站。

Earth Island Institute’s Sacred Land Film Project produces a variety of media and educational materials — films, videos, DVDs, articles, photographs, school curricula materials and Web site content — to deepen public understanding of sacred places, indigenous cultures and environmental justice. Our mission is to use journalism, organizing and activism to rekindle reverence for land, increase respect for cultural diversity, stimulate dialogue about connections between nature and culture, and protect sacred lands and diverse spiritual practices. For the last decade we have focused on the production and distribution of the documentary film, In the Light of Reverence. We are currently in post-production on a four-part series on sacred places around the world, entitled Standing on Sacred Ground. The Sacred Land Film Project plays a vital role in bringing the voices and wisdom of indigenous peoples to those who make – or can influence – decisions about the future of traditional lands and the people whose lives and cultures depend on them.
